Theme engines for Moodle?

Tim Hunt’s proposed development for Moodle 2.0 to accommodate templates.

While it’s a pretty technical read, it gives a basic outline of what a template system might look like.

Here’s how I understand it will work:

A theme can specify whether it will use a standard set of Moodle templates (yet to be created) or a completely different set that can live within the theme folder itself. At the start, very few pages will be available as templates, but the core code will be refactored to simplify the process of templating more pages as we move forward.

If my understanding is correct, this is good news.
